On 31st, August, 2004 the fourth season of comedy drama scrubs premiered and it finished on 10th May, 2005 with a broadcast of twenty five episodes.

J.D. has completed his residency and now is a proper colleague of Dr. Cox, but still there is no major change in their relationship. Elliot too has been named as the chief resident at the hospital. J.D. faces depressing times after he hears about the death of his father from Dan. Turk and Carla are back from their honeymoon but have problems soon, as the new bride tries correcting too many faults of her husband. Troubles also happen when J.D. and Carla have a kiss amidst a drunken stupor. This also puts J.D.’s and Turk’s friendship in a tight spot. Jordan and Dr. Cox learn that officially they were not divorced yet, but this news leads to arguments. Elliot is furious at J.D. and dates his brother, Dan, which makes working together a bit difficult for them.

But J.D. finds love in the new, and very pretty psychiatrist, Dr. Molly Clock (Heather Graham) who joins the Sacred Heart and mentors Elliot in her work.

The fifth episode of this season, Her Story, has been narrated by Elliot and not by J.D. as is the usual pattern. The 11th episode My Unicorn marked the directorial debut of famous actor Matthew Perry.
